General Chapter Meeting open to the Public. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience gardening for biodiversity in the Baton Rouge area, Wild Ones of Greater Baton Rouge founding President, Janine Kharey, shared a presentation of photographs and information about native plants that support rich biodiversity in a suburban backyard. Door prizes were given.

Join Wild Ones Honorary Director Heather Holm as she explores the nesting habitats, life cycles, pollen collection, brood rearing, and general characteristics of some of the most common native bees in eastern North America, while highlighting the pollination of native plants and the mutualism between native plants and native bees.
When creating and managing thriving habitats for native bees, many factors such as seasonal phenology, nesting strategies, and flower preferences must be considered—and with approximately 3,600 species in North America (north of Mexico), there are many unique aspects to keep in mind when managing successful landscapes for bees.

Katie Kogler, plant rescue chair and licensed horticulturalist instructed 6 youth and 2 adults on seed processing. Janine Kharey did a hands on demonstration of how to collect seeds. The youths then processed and packed up 10 varieties of seed into seed packets.

The Museum's current installation was of Macro Photography of insects 300 times scale. This is an annual event showcasing traditional craftsmanship in fiber arts, black smithing, ceramics etc.
We debuted the packets of seeds that had been made up by the LaCC crew. We had colorful photos to accompany the seed packets.
